Rapid Response

We hold each other as best we know how working out our histories  mapping them onto each other and dancing round past lives the sudden occlusions of history in short, we take care as humans should, of others as each song sung just once deserves its best rendition and if we have to hide from the world we should do so with grace and clarity because we demean ourselves when we endanger others and lies will poison us, in the end

Tanning In The English Rain @TanningRain · Jul 10 Replying to @topes_lose and @RobHarris Who have we ever invaded? No one's saying don't be proud, don't love your patch, your turf, your roots the anchors biting into the past what makes you part of yourself They're saying remember: that only twenty-two countries, haven't seen the English invade world-leading, world beating they're saying that we fool ourselves when we tell ourselves all the beguiling lies that when the sun never set on Empire, that wasn't a figure of speech that when we calculate and tot up the sum of human misery our histories all have a share (and no-one's saying that others don't) they're saying remember what built this house this street this wealth the money sluicing through the veins of history they're saying be proud, love your country but remember all of it because all of it is part of you
